Everything here was recorded too bright or too dark. There is no in-between exposure, because there is no in-between feeling.

.44PAINKILLER is not a persona built to be liked. It is a way of pushing raw material — sound, image, static, whatever is on hand — until it stops behaving. Tracks are built from mistakes I decided to keep: a clipped mic, a loop that never resolves, a photograph blown out past the point of being a photograph.

People will call this dark. It is closer to the opposite — it is what is actually there when the filter comes off. I am not interested in decorating a feeling to make it presentable. I would rather leave it unresolved and let the listener sit in it.

This archive exists so the work has one place that isn't a platform, isn't an algorithm, isn't optimized for anything. Just the material, arranged the way it actually happened.
